The goal of the project was to improve project management maturity and develop sustainable competencies among the company's employees, enabling them to effectively plan deadlines, resources, and budgets, as well as monitor project implementation at all stages of their lifecycle.
Project Goals and Objectives
The primary objective was to prepare the DEZEGA Holding Ukraine team for the systematic use of MS Project as a key project management tool. To achieve this, the following objectives were formulated:
- Training employees in the project calendar-network planning methodology;
- Developing skills in the accurate planning of deadlines, resources, and costs;
- Creating and configuring project templates, calendars, and work breakdown structures (WBS);
- Implementing practices for setting milestones and tracking deviations;
- Training in MS Project Online and the corporate project portfolio management mechanism;
- Increasing the transparency and manageability of the company's project activities.
Main Focus Areas and Program Content
During the project, I developed and delivered a specialized training course, "Project Management Based on MS Project," which included five key modules, also reflected in the letter of recommendation:
- Project Schedule and Scope Planning. Participants learned work breakdown methods, creating a WBS, creating links between tasks, and calculating the critical path.
- Project Cost Planning and Cash Flow. Budgeting tools, assigning resource rates, monitoring actual costs, and analyzing variances were covered.
- Labor Resource Planning. Employees learned how to work with resource pools, determine team workloads, identify overloads, and adjust their leveling.
- Establishing actual completion, analysis, and rescheduling. Particular emphasis was placed on performance monitoring technologies: updating actual completion, identifying variances in time and resources, and adjusting the baseline plan.
- MS Project Online Project Portfolio Management. The course covered practical applications for working with a corporate portal, centralized project repository, reporting, and dashboards.
My Role and Contribution to the Project
I served as the lead trainer and consultant, responsible for:
- analyzing the company's current level of project maturity;
- adapting the training program to the specifics of the company's operations;
- preparing demonstration materials and practical cases;
- conducting in-person training and individual consultations for employees;
- providing methodological support for the use of MS Project tools;
- recommendations for developing a corporate project management standard.
Results and Impact for the Company
Thanks to the completed project, DEZEGA Holding Ukraine:
- developed a unified approach to project planning and control;
- improved the accuracy of timeline and cost forecasting;
- increased transparency of workforce utilization;
- optimized project portfolio management through MS Project Online;
- strengthened the competencies of employees directly involved in project activities;
- reduced the risks of missed deadlines and resource overruns.
